Empowerment refers to the process of gaining the skills, confidence, and knowledge necessary to take control of one’s life and achieve one’s goals. It involves recognizing one’s own abilities and strengths and using them to make positive changes in one’s life. Empowerment can be achieved through education, self-improvement, and taking action to create the life one desires.

Self-love and empowerment are closely related, as both involve recognizing and valuing one’s own worth and potential. By practicing self-love, individuals can increase their sense of empowerment and take charge of their lives. In turn, feeling empowered can reinforce feelings of self-love and self-worth.

Self-love is important for many reasons. Here are a few:

  1. Improved mental health: Self-love helps to promote positive self-esteem and self-worth, leading to better mental health. When you love yourself, you’re more likely to engage in self-care activities, set healthy boundaries, and be kind to yourself, all of which can contribute to better mental health.
  2. Increased resilience: When you love yourself, you’re better able to handle difficult situations and bounce back from setbacks. Self-love helps you develop a strong sense of self-worth and self-confidence, which can be valuable in times of stress or adversity.

In the context of this audio program, when I talk about self-love, I’m referring to your ability and willingness to take care of yourself, to nurture yourself, to make sure you are eating properly, to make sure you have a home to live in, that you have clothes on your back, that you do things that keep you healthy and well in all areas of your life. Yet, the thing is, many of us simply find it incredibly difficult to have any sort of relationship with ourselves because we have been socialized and raised in such a way as to believe that putting others first, before your own welfare, is a virtue.
